Psychic Rebecca LoCicero, Couples Reiki/Reading, Special Farmers Market

Good morning, Tolland County! Today is Thursday 2/6 and that means it’s National Optimist Day. Since these newsletters are all about spreading good vibes and focusing on the positive, this is the perfect day to share it with someone (shameless self-plug). Try to look on the bright side of things today!

If you’re stuck in traffic, that just means you get to enjoy some extra music or audiobook time. Someone eat your lunch out of the work fridge? You’re saving calories, so you can enjoy that ice-cream tonight guilt-free. See? It’s not so hard. Let’s check out some of the awesome stuff happening around Tolland County this weekend.

In Today’s Tolland County Buzz:

  • An Evening With a Psychic đź”®

  • Couples Reiki and Reading 🤯

  • A Special Farmers Market ❤️

Let’s dive in!

BRIEF BITES

  • Local Heroes - Two brothers sprang into action when a 69-year-old Willington man went missing in freezing temperatures back on Jan. 3rd, using their knowledge of local trails and a quad ATV to aid the search. Just before midnight, Austin and Mason Miller found the man curled up off the road, suffering from hypothermia, and helped bring him to safety. Their quick thinking and bravery earned them the town’s "Meritorious Service" award. Well done!

  • Retirement - After seven years of spreading joy across UConn, Tildy, the university’s first community outreach dog, is officially retiring. From the Great Lawn to HuskyTHON, she’s been a beloved presence on campus, making students smile and bringing comfort to those in need. Though she’s stepping back, her little sister Jazmine is ready to carry on her legacy

  • Attn. Anglers - The state is releasing its rejuvenated broodstock Seeforellen brown trout, vibrant and ready to catch after weeks of recovery post-spawn! Find them at Bigelow Pond (Union), Coventry Lake (Coventry), Crystal Lake (Ellington), and Mashapaug Lake (Union).

  • Taste2Towns - This is just a friendly reminder that we’re getting towards the end of the Taste2Towns event (the final day is Sunday, 2/9) held by Mansfield and Windham. Restaurants are offering exclusive menus for great prices. To check out what’s on the menu, you can click here.

An Evening With a Psychic đź”®

The Andover Public Library is inviting you to spend a special evening with world-renowned psychic Rebecca Anne LoCicero on Friday 2/7 from 7-9pm. The event will be held in the Andover Elementary School Cafeteria (35 School Rd).

Just an FYI, every time I’ve tried to post an event featuring Rebecca, it has sold out quickly, so if you’re interested, make sure to call the library at (860) 742-7428 or email [email protected]. The best part? This event is 100% free! It’s being sponsored by the Andover Public Library Board of Directors and the Andover Friends of the Library (thank you very much!).

Couples Reiki and Reading 🤯

What better way to spend some time on a Saturday (specifically this Saturday, 2/8) than doing a couples Reiki and Reading? Now, think of couple in terms of two rather than significant other (bring a brother, sister, friend, parent…you get the idea).

Voices of Enlightenment’s (19 Pinney St, Ellington) own Arianna and Marion will be performing a 30 minute Reiki session first, then a 30 minute Reading. You may get a past-life or future connection, or possibly even mediumship information!

The event will start at 10am and run until 4:30pm. The pricing is $100/couple, and if you’re interested, you can call (413) 885-0038 to book a time.

A Special Farmers Market ❤️

Did you realize there are still Farmer’s Markets running through the winter? This Saturday 2/8, from 9am-12pm, the Ellington Farmers Market (held at Ellington High School - 37 Maple St, Ellington) is holding a special Sweetheart Super Bowl Saturday event.

For those going the romantic route, heart-shaped cookies from Kearcher Cookies, fudge from CT FudgeWorks, fresh jams from Gram’s Jams (outstanding name), and plenty of other vendors to grab something for that special someone before Valentine’s Day.

If you’re looking to step your Super Bowl party snacks up, you can grab some Pop’s Famous Guac, Pan de Oro tortilla chips and salsa, and Super Soups dip mixes (really easy to make, and usually goes quick). Keep shopping local, and enjoy the amazing products our neighbors make!

THE HIVE’S PICK

Image Courtesy of Let’s Get Wired Facebook

We covered Let’s Get Wired (64 Main St, Stafford Springs) as Monday’s Pick, and well, wouldn’t you know it? The event they’re holding this weekend is our pick for today (don’t forget about our 10% OFF discount using code TCBSPARKLES)! On Sunday 2/9, from 12-5pm, they’re holding a Love Is In The Air Artisan Fair (they actually have the event listed as Artisan Market, but fair just rolls off the tongue, right?).

Find a unique piece of jewelry (including permanent), gemstones/crystals, and a whole lot more. There will be local vendors there, including: The Wicked Press (blind date with a book, unique bookmarks, book art, and more literary-inspired goods), Two Knotty Hippies (mixed media jewelry), Spark and Style Permanent Jewelry (self-explanatory), and several others.

Also in attendance will be Jenn Newmann, to do Tarot readings. Each reading is 15 minutes and costs $20. You can get a brief idea of what she does on her YouTube page. Step into the surreal and check out what some local artisans have to offer!
